Cinesite Toots Their Own Horn With Their Brilliantly Funny, Animated Short, “Beans”

London based visual effects studio Cinesite has been developing world-class visual effects for over 20 years. Their portfolio includes projects done for World War Z, Iron Man 3, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Carribbean, and the Bond films to name a few.

Written and directed by animator Alvise Avati, Beans was designed to help Cinesite explore new avenues in terms of advertising and viral marketing campaigns, as well as creature animation. Over the past few months, while working on Beans, Cinesite has also been creating visual effects for several forthcoming 2014 releases, including The Monuments Men, Into The Storm, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Edge of Tomorrow, 300: Rise of an Empire and Robocop.

“We are passionate about animation,” says Eamonn Butler, Producer of Beans and Animation Director at Cinesite. “So we have been overwhelmed by the positive response from clients, ad agencies, visual effects artists, the press and the general public. Their support has been very inspiring to everyone who worked on it.”

The storyline of Beans is quite simple. While a group of astronauts proudly plant a flag on the moon, an angry local shows up and decides to provide them with a not so hospitable welcome. What happens next? You’ll have to watch and see…

“Working in visual effects, it’s usually other people’s visions and creatures that you’re creating,” explains Alvise, who is known for his work on films including Avatar and King Kong. “This was an opportunity to take some creative control and make a film of our own.”
